River Metals Recycling
Earns ISO 14001 Certification
River Metals Recycling LLC (RMR),
headquartered in Fort Mitchell, KY, recently achieved ISO 14001-2004
certification. RMR committed
to achieving ISO certification in an ongoing effort to realize continual
improvement and in consideration of supplier and customer-driven demand for
environmentally friendly products and services delivered by socially
responsible companies. The certification includes RMR’s headquarters and yards
in Newport, Louisville, Henderson, and Somerset, KY.
To become accredited, a company must
undergo a rigorous evaluation of all its environmental systems, including the
environmental aspects of the activities, products and services it performs.
This evaluation takes into consideration environmental protection, pollution
prevention and socioeconomic needs. Typically, this process takes 15 – 18
months, yet RMR attained certification in just six months. The Company
attributed the rapid certification to having proper operations in place well
before the certification process began.
This certification validates The
Company’s overall environmental compliance, emphasizing its longstanding role
as a leading scrap supplier and reaffirming its continuing commitment to
excellence.
This certification follows RMR’s ISO
9001-2000 certification late in 2004. This quality initiative allows RMR to
sustain their long-term competitiveness and realize stronger market performance
as discerning customers and suppliers are becoming more quality conscious.
“The ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
accreditations are milestones in the history of RMR. We are very proud of these
accomplishments, which are tributes to our employees’ dedication to providing
the highest quality and ongoing environmentally friendly service” said Alan
Crouch, President.
The Gamma-Tech Crossbelt Metal
Analyzer is an example of RMR’s improved quality and commitment to continual
improvement. RMR, along with Gamma-Tech, developed the process to produce
shredded scrap to a specific chemistry, assisting consumers in capturing
maximum value from the supply chain. This cleaner shredded grade with lower
residuals is called Gamma shred. RMR operates 3 Gamma-Tech analyzers and is a
world leader in producing Gamma shred.
