On December 14, 2013 River Metals Recycling (RMR) Louisville sponsored “Holiday Candy Land:  Larger than Cancer!” to help raise awareness for Aiden’s Legacy. The Aiden’s Legacy mission is to help children with cancer forget about chemotherapy and other treatments by providing new Lego sets for their entertainment.   The second floor lobby of the Starks Building in Louisville was decorated as a giant interactive Candy Land board game, with food and games for childhood cancer victims and their families.  The fundraiser was to help support Aiden Johnson and his family, along with many other children at Kosair Children’s Hospital who are fighting cancer. Aiden is 9 years old and battling High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Aiden was first diagnosed in 2007, when he was only two years old. Aiden has been in and out of remission ever since.RMR Louisville has supported Aiden’s Legacy since 2012.  This is just one of many examples of River Metals Recycling’s corporate social responsibility.  RMR supports a wide range of organizations through local investments, donations and volunteer efforts.  This commitment to the communities in which RMR operates is not just a program or a donation; it’s the way RMR does business every day.RMR’s Louisville recycling center buys ferrous scrap as well as common household nonferrous scrap metal items like aluminum cans and other aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass products. RMR is headquartered in Crescent Springs, Kentucky and has nearly 300 employees.  RMR is wholly owned by The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ).  Founded in 1885, DJJ is one of the largest scrap brokers/processors in the United States providing scrap brokerage, recycling and transportation services.  DJJ is part of Nucor Corporation’s family of companies.  Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nucor is the leading purchaser of ferrous scrap and the largest recycler in North America, with operating facilities primarily in the U.S. and Canada.
