Vote on your favorite sculpture created from recycled scrap metal from River Metals Recycling’s Newport, Kentucky facility!

Check out the 2016 Greater Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration at Sawyer point and enjoy free admission, live music, petting farm, face painting, inflatables, a fire truck, food and lots of exhibits and displays. Be sure to visit The David J. Joseph Company’s (DJJ) booth and vote on your favorite scrap sculpture!

– For seven weeks area artists worked to create sculptures from scrap metal collected at River Metals Recycling’s Newport, Kentucky facility. The five sculptures will be displayed during the Cincinnati Earth Day celebrations in front of the flag poles at Sawyer Point on Saturday, April 16 from 12-5pm. Judging will take place and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places. A People’s Choice award will also be presented, so visit DJJ’s booth to vote for your favorite! Winners will be announced at 4:45 at DJJ’s Earth Day Booth!

Sculptures are available for purchase via online auction at, searchable under Scrap Showdown. The auction began April 12 and ends just before noon on April 19, 2016. Proceeds from the auction will be split between the artist, DJJ’s costs, and Taking Root, an earth-friendly charity.
