The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ), Cincinnati, finalized its acquisition of Klempner Brothers from theKlempner family and River City Shredding and River City Baling, two facilities which were jointly owned bythe Klempners and the David Blue family.
These Louisville operations have been combined with Joseph’s Henderson, Kentucky and Newport,Kentucky plants and are now operated as an independent, new company, River Metals Recycling, LLC.
Alan J. Crouch is the newly appointed President and General Manager of River Metals Recycling, LLC,which will be headquartered in Northern Kentucky. Mr. Crouch has been with DJJ in various operatingcapacities since 1973. Joseph P. Reinrnann is the Vice President Commercial and has been with DJJsince 1989, serving most recently as District Manager for DJJ’s Cincinnati trading office. Michael T.Legeay is the Vice President-Financial and has been with DJJ since 1971, serving most recently as VicePresident-Finance in the Ferrous Division. Jay Klempner will consult for the new company during atransition period in Louisville.
The David J. Joseph Company was founded in 1885 and operates International and TransportationServices Divisions in addition to its ferrous and nonferrous scrap activities, which include processing,brokerage, and providing scrap management services to steel mills. The Joseph Company isheadquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is owned by SHV, N.V. of Utrecht, The Netherlands.
