On August 10, 2013 a group of Greensburg firefighters visited River Metals Recycling’s (RMR) Greensburg, IN recycling facility for “Jaws of Life” training using a school bus.  This was their first experience practicing with a school bus, and they learned that cutting through the steel was much more difficult than automobile sheet metal.  In addition, they learned that cutting through the doors of newer automobiles was more challenging than older model vehicles.  RMR was pleased to provide a safe location and various vehicles for the firefighters to practice using the Jaws of Life and other life-saving equipment. The Greensburg Fire Department staff learned a great deal from this training, and they plan to share their knowledge with other Fire Department personnel in surrounding towns.

Consistent with RMR’s core values, “giving back” to our communities has been a significant part of our culture. RMR Greensburg plans to host additional “Jaws of Life” training for the local firefighters.  This on-site training for firefighters is just another example of RMR’s commitment to do the right thing and give back to the communities in which we do business.
