On July 2, 2007, River Metals Recycling (RMR) purchased the assets and business of Xenia Iron & Metal. The Xenia Ohio yard, founded in 1917, is located 60 miles north of Cincinnati.  Xenia also operates Greensburg Recycling Inc., a scrap yard in Indiana.

River Metals will operate the Xenia, OH and Greensburg, IN scrap yards under the RMR name, but plans to continue to use the Xenia Iron & Metal and Greensburg Recycling names during a transition period.  The yard in Xenia is located at 840 Jasper Road, and the phone number is (937) 372-3533.  The Greensburg yard is located at 323 S. Monfort Street, and the phone number is (812) 663-5587.  RMR plans to expand the business in both Xenia and Greensburg.

River Metals Recycling, headquartered in Fort Mitchell, KY, achieved ISO 14001-2004 certification in 2006 and is committed to operating environmentally sound facilities, with a focus on continual improvement and excellence at all locations, including the two newest yards.

This acquisition represents a continuation of RMR’s growth strategy.  Formed in August 1998, River Metals Recycling is now the largest scrap processor in Kentucky and in the greater Cincinnati area.  Over the past three years, RMR purchased Somerset Scrap, Tri-State Industrial Services, and Xenia Iron & Metal.  RMR now has facilities in a four-state area:  Henderson, Livermore, Louisville, Newport (Cincinnati), Owensboro, Paducah, and Somerset, Kentucky; Metropolis, Illinois; Xenia, Ohio and Greensburg, Indiana.
