Frankfort, Ky. (July 25, 2013) – Kentucky Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry Roberts today presented River Metals Recycling LLC in Ferguson, Ky. with the Governor’s Safety and Health Award. River Metals’ employees have worked 369,839 hours without a lost-time accident.
The Governor’s Safety and Health Award provides special recognition for outstanding safety and health performance and encourages the development of programs designed to reduce and even eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses.
The award is given to employers and their employees who together have achieved the required number of hours worked without experiencing a lost-time injury or illness.
River Metals Recycling’s Ferguson location, which employs 30 workers, is an example of employees and employers working together to create a safe work environment for all. “River Metals Recycling has a commitment to building a culture where all employees practice and promote safety and doing things the right way,” said Secretary Roberts.
River Metals Recycling LLC is the largest scrap recycler in Kentucky with 10 recycling facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
Kentucky Labor Cabinet Secretary Larry Roberts encourages all employers who may have concerns about the safety and healthfulness of a facility to contact the Division of Education and Training to request a free, confidential, consultative visit. Call 502-564-4087 for additional information.
